"Kan man verkligen motivera att stressade akademiska lärare, pedagogiska utvecklare eller andra som på annat sätt är engagerade i högre utbildning ska ägna dyrbar tid åt att fördjupa sig i en bok om den högre utbildningens filosofi? Efter att ha läst Ronald Barnetts bok The philosophy of Higher Education – A Critical Introduction är mitt svar utan tvekan ja, även om den resa Barnett bjuder på följer en krokig och bitvis gropig väg."
